Button me up, Coraline

So, have any of you seen that great new movie Coraline?

It's the whole "be careful what you wish for" kind of movie.

Little girl finds a secret door in her house, to discover an "alternate" version of her current life. Everything in this alternate life, is just soooo much better.

Until.

You know how the story goes. Nothing is ever how it seems.

Her new "better" parents decide they want to keep her forever. And it's up to her to get herself back home.

Well, if you've seen the previews the imposter parents have buttons for eyes.... CREEPY! And just up my alley!!

So, of course I was alerted through my creepy connections of a cool site that allows you to upload your own photo into a great "Coralinesque" self portrait with wonderful shiny, button eyes!

I've joined Coraline in her parallel world along with my son.... will you?

I'll see you on the other side!

OK, do NOT like those pictures! UGH. Creepy!

I haven't seen the movie but I read the book. I'm a big Neil Gaiman fan. The book was billed for kids but I thought it was too creepy for my daughter (overactive imagination)... but the movie seems like it would be OK.

I was wondering about that movie. I've heard that it isn't for young children, but that adults would enjoy it. You'll have to say what you think when you see it. And, the buttons are a little creepy. But I guess that's normal. People weren't intended to have buttons for eyes! :)

Those pictures are a little disturbing. I'm not much of a movie watcher usually, and I haven't seen this one. When I saw that picture in your post, I couldn't help but think you looked a lot like Coraline. Then the lights came on and I finished reading and realized that I'm an idiot.

My husband heard an interview with the author on NPR and now we both want to go see it. Do you think it's bad that we won't have a kid with us?
